The most widely used treatment of erectile dysfunction is the treatment with oral pills, called PDE-5 inhibitors. These pills, available by prescription only, are marketed under trade names of VIAGRA®, LEVITRA® and CIALIS®.

Oral drug treatment
As said above, the most widely used treatment of erectile dysfunction is the treatment with oral pills, called PDE-5 inhibitors. These pills, Viagra® (sildenafil citrate), Cialis® (tadalafil) and Levitra® (vardenafil), do not give an erection on their own. Erection can only be achieved if you are sexually aroused. These three drugs cause the muscles of corpora cavernosa (penile tissue) and the blood vessels that carry blood to the penis relax. Corpora cavernosa, filled with blood, makes the penis stiffen.
